Swing Door

  • Encouraging people to take up new learning opportunities and bringing coherence to local services

  • Grant from the Learning Transformation Fund at the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills

Swing Door was a successful programme of adult informal learning funded through Transformation Fund, The Learning Revolution.

Well UK worked with 26 community partners across Devon and between November 2009 to March 2010 more than 1,900  adults took the opportunity to take part in informal learning.

There were 140 ‘taster sessions' and 13 longer courses. The range of sessions delivered was huge from dancing to Spanish to learning about cholesterol to night-time photography to healthy smoothies and IT.  Almost every learner said they had learnt a lot and had enjoyed the experience.

The Swing Door approach has fostered access to local informal learning and at the same time has raised learners' awareness of the core services on offer by the partners based on evaluation of the opinions of delivery partners.

A summary of the evaluation of the project is available. Please use the Contact Us form.
