Well UK is contracted to deliver approximately 140 jobs in the South West. This is part of a successful £20m bid for nearly 3,000 jobs by 3SC in the first round of the Department for Work and Pensions' Future Jobs Fund contracts.
The Future Jobs Fund is part of the biggest jobs programme for a generation and provides 150,000 jobs nationwide over two years. The jobs must be of benefit to the local community and potentially sustainable. There is a preference for partnership bids involving social enterprises and the third sector. It is expected that at least 10,000 ‘green jobs' will be created and social enterprises will create at least 15,000 jobs.
Funding covers the cost of employment of young people for 25 hours per week, for 6 months, with additional funding for the employer to help support the young person. Back-up support from 3SC and Well UK is also available.
These jobs are genuinely new, real jobs, for young people aged 18-24, for at least 6 months, 25 hours per week, at minimum national wage or above. They are suitable for young people who have been on Job Seekers Allowance for 6 months or who live in unemployment ‘hotspots'.
The programme is now closed and so Well UK is not looking for any additional employers.
This project is being led by Dorothy Wright, one of Well UK's Project Managers.
